Pharmacist / Full-Time 

Position Description:

Performs clinical and professional pharmaceutical work in the compounding and dispensing of drugs for medical clinic and multiple offsite “drop and fill centers.”

Responsibilities:

  • Interprets and evaluates physicians' medication orders.
  • Ensures appropriate preparation, packaging, delivery, storage, and monitoring of prescribed medications.
  • Manages pharmacy support personnel and pharmacy work areas.
  • Ensures compliance with established policies, standards, practices, and values of the department, institution and profession.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of adherence protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A baccalaureate degree in pharmacy from a college or university accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is required. Entry level doctorate of pharmacy is acceptable in lieu of a BS degree and is preferred.
  2. Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required.
  3. Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent practice experience in an integrated health care system, which includes an acute care hospital, or equivalent, is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices, and procedures pharmacology and therapeutics drug information systems are required.
  5. Effective communication, customer service, and computer skills are all essential.

Pharmacy Tech / Full-Time

Position Description:

Performs many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and performs all administrative functions of the department that do not require professional judgment or extensive technical training.

Responsibilities:

  • Fills orders for pre-package pharmaceuticals, DEA Controlled substances, floor stock, supplemental medications, emergency kits, and general stock requisitions.

  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies in the Pharmacy department clinical areas.

  • Stores incoming merchandise in proper locations as instructed.

  • Informs the supervisor/pharmacist of stock needs and stock shortages. Processes drug recalls when required in accordance with departmental policy and procedure.

  • Documents all vital information regarding DEA Controlled substances requests. Performs random audits of the DEA distribution and control system as specified in departmental policy.

  • Insures proper functioning of Pharmacy refrigerators and freezers, checking for adequate temperature levels and that cleaning standard are maintained according to departmental procedures.

  • Performs routine maintenance; contacts Facilities Maintenance or Biomedical Engineering, as needed, to perform more complex maintenance duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  3. Employees in this job class must be certified and registered with the Maryland Board of Pharmacists within the first six months of employment.

  • General knowledge of generally accepted pharmacy principles, practices and procedures, pharmaceutical generic and trade names, general mathematics, personal computers, is required.

Position Description:

         

Generates electronic insurance claims daily, manages lock-box, creates payment plans and discounts for eligible patients, develops collection policies, and performs balance billing. Integrates activities with Medical Director and Operations Director, to ensure success of financial services.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Highly experienced, independent achiever needed for start-up practice. Must be personable and patient-friendly, with strong, detailed knowledge of EHR Practice Management software, electronic Medical billing process, CPT and ICD-9 Coding, as well as Medicare regulations. Desirable employee is required to be skilled at interfacing with third party payors, including credentialing of providers in multiple specialties. Position will evolve to Full-time over six months.

Operations Director / Full-Time 

Position Description:

To manage and supervise the operational and administrative functions, activities, and projects of a diabetes care clinic.  Responsibilities include the managing, planning and coordinating the operations of the clinic to include: Manage all clinic staff, billing and collecting procedures, monitoring delivery of patient services, planning for space allocation, acting as liaison with patients, businesses, hospitals, academic administration and faculty.  Under administrative direction, plans, directs, and manages the administrative and operational activities of 1st Step Diabetes Wellness Center; directly and through subordinates, manages professional nursing and support staff; and performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide management and oversight of all aspects of outreach and testing events
  • Finalize all contracts and agreements related to1DWC participation and services at outreach and testing events
  • Ensure that all staffing and supply needs are communicated to the clinic director
  • Make certain that all operations are running efficiently on the day of the event
  • Manage the day to day operations of corporate offices
  • Create and implement programs to achieve company goals
  • Effectively communicate to clients the vision and concept of 1DWC
  • Manage and organize corporate objectives as laid out by CEO

Monitor delivery of patient services to include:

  • Completing various special projects, which may require reviewing and analyzing information, identifying problems, recommending solutions and writing reports
  • Managing space planning, renovation, and all allocation
  • Recruiting, managing, and directing all non-faculty staff to ensure the clinic operates in an efficient manner and that the patients receive high quality customer service.
  • Reviewing internal policies and procedures and update as needed
  • Functioning as the clinic liaison with patients, businesses, hospitals, academic administration and faculty
  • Maintaining on-site Medical Records administration and ensuring that all state and federal regulations governing the release of information is followed and to ensure HIPPA compliances
  • Coordinate and facilitate the flow of information and decision making for CEO and other department heads
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Manage the facility operational readiness under the direction of CEO; day to day protocol, functioning, and engineering operational readiness to the complete mission of 1DWC

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of clinic and medical group operations experience in an administrative and managerial capacity, preferably for a public agency; or
  • Three years of experience performing the duties of Public Health Nurse, Managing or Staff Nurse including administrative responsibility for clinic operations and activities; or
  • A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities
  • Must be able to create a new patient regiment
  • Must have knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Must be able to create transferable and franchisable roll out model
  • Must be able to create Patient exam profile
  • Must be able to coordinate offsite operations such as health fair symposiums and alike
  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration or Health related field with five years of job related experience, including one year of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have knowledge of budgets and budget process including mathematical and accounting skills, ability to make sound financial decisions, and ability to use calculator.  Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding procedures and be familiar with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing procedures. Ability to proceed on own initiative using independent judgment and discretion.  Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, leadership and organizational skills, and interpersonal and time management skills.  Have knowledge of computer technology, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics software in order to prepare publications, reports, and business correspondence.  Have knowledge of office management and administrative procedures, and the ability to supervise and review the work of others. Possess knowledge of specialized terminology including medical, legal, and/or construction.  Ability to interact with faculty, professional, administrative and higher level management personnel.  Familiarity with medical records administration, and knowledge of clinic and physician/patient protocols.  Have to be task oriented.  Have a flexible schedule including weekends and able to do extended travel.
